Going Green is not a choice anymore It’s a Necessity – Aries Group CEO announces new GO GREEN Initiatives
As part of the commencement of Aries Group’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, its Founder and CEO, Sir Sohan Roy, announced the Go Green initiative. On World Environment Day, the Aries Management introduced Energy Index, a new feature in their efficiency management software (EFFISM), to analyze the Personal/Division’s contribution towards reducing Carbon Foot Print. The management has also announced a cash prize of Dhs. 50,000 to Best improving individuals or divisions of the company.
On this occasion, Sir Sohan Roy stated, “Green thinking has always been a part of our company ethos, and our very first step towards achieving this was ‘paperless’ Operations. It was an uphill task, but we became paperless in record time. Time and again, Aries has pushed ahead with the number of measures to reduce carbon footprint, and we will continue to do so, as we understand that Going Green is not a choice anymore, it’s a necessity.”
The Carbon footprint will be analyzed based on Total Engine CC (1% reduction for every 100cc increase), Average Mileage (1% reduction for every 1km lower mileage), Annual Distance traveled (1% reduction for every additional 1000km), Solar power generation (% Reduction applicable based on solar usage), and traveling distance of an employee to the office (10% reduction for every extra 1km).
As part of the “Green vision,” which was announced last year, the company had set up a Green Fund to aid the shipping industry’s efforts to promote sustainability and decarbonization. One of his initiatives, Aries green Solutions, offers sustainable maritime solutions and has completed more than 1500 retrofit engineering projects, including Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems). Aries Green Solutions was also honored with the “Best Green Maritime Consultant” award at the International Green Shipping and Technology Summit in Athens, Greece, in 2019. Under Sir Roy’s able leadership, the company recently launched the Aries Renewable and Integrated Solar Energy Division which offers consumers a plethora of services to adopt Solar powered energy. World’s first Solar AC Bed, Solar Energy operated Steel Houseboat – BOTEL are some among the many eco-friendly designs which Aries Group had initiated.
As an onset to the celebrations, this year has been declared the ‘Year of Happiness.’ Mission25 has also been launched as a part of the celebration to take Aries Brand to new heights of success. Aries Plex SL Cinemas Grabs the Limelight once again Wins IFFK Award
Aries Plex SL, Thiruvananthapuram, grabbed the headlines after winning the prestigious International Film Festival (IFFK) award organized by the Kerala state government. This was bestowed on the organization in recognition of its excellent facilities provided for the event. A cash prize of Rs 10,000, a certificate, and a sculpture was awarded to Aries Plex Director, Mr. Joy, who received the award from State Finance Minister Shri K.N. Balagopal. AriesPlex theatre is owned by Dr. Sohan Roy, Founder Chairman and CEO of Aries Group of Companies.
The theatre has been recognized and received many accolades in the past. Blockbuster Tollywood movie, Bahubali received the highest collection in India from Aries Plex. The Audi One in this theater has an imported silver screen, one of India’s largest screens. Images from two projectors are simultaneously combined and delivered to the screen, resulting in images that have no other resolution. The 4K technology visual layout and sixty-four channel 80,000 watts Dolby Atmos sound system offer the audience an immersive cinema experience. Subsequently, new plans were formulated each month to ensure the physical and mental development of the staff and their family members. Small challenges, along with cash awards and other incentives, have also been included.
The challenges of the first month were based on healthcare. Special social media pages were started by the department to discover and promote the artistic talents of the employees. Prizes, including cash awards, were given to employees who completed work and career-related training on time. Through these challenges, Niya made every employee a part of this personality development drive and provided them an opportunity to participate in it according to their interests.

Famous football player I.M Vijayan plays an important character in this movie which is portrayed in an international scenario. Director Vijeesh Mani says that the character entitled for I.M Vijayan is so unique that it has got the potential to rewrite his future in the film industry. Nanjiyamma, who got famous after her debut work in Ayyappanum Koshiyum, is writing and singing the songs which has a local touch to it. Junaid Muhammad is the Music Director. Famous American musician, Edon Molla, who is a well known singer, lyricist and music director, has also written songs and sung in the movie. Edon, who works alongside Grammy Award winning musicians, has got his music used by New York’s Brooklyn Marathon, in Europe’s, several of America’s independent movies and radio stations. Eden’s first music album “Alone” had reached millions of people on social media platforms in just a period of 4 months. This is Edon’s first work in an international movie. No Sign Of Relief For This UAE Director Ban On The Hollywood Movie DAM999 Extended Again By The Tamil Nadu Government
The Tamil Nadu government has again banned the Mullaperiyar dam controversy film ‘Dam 999’. Nine years ago, the film was banned in Tamil Nadu since its release. Even though the Supreme Court has given permission to screen the movie, the Tamil Nadu government alone has not given permission to screen the film. When the ban expired yesterday, the government renewed the order.
Tamil Nadu continues to ban the film, claiming that the story of the film, which was released in 2011, is similar to the Mullaperiyar Dam. Dam 999 is a film about an old, dilapidated Dam and the tragedy that occurs when it collapses. With that, Tamil Nadu went ahead with measures including obstruction of the Indian Parliament. The film was subjected to brutal actions, including refusing to post posters, imposing fines on theaters that came forward to show it, influencing channels not to take satellite rights, and breaking IMDb ratings by cyber fighters.
Dam 999, directed by Dr. Sohan Roy, has since won numerous international awards. The film made it to the Oscar shortlist with five entries in three categories and qualified for next year’s Golden Rooster Award in twelve categories. Dam 999 is also the first Indian film to be eligible for the Chinese Oscar. The screenplay for the film, written and directed by himself, was also selected for the ‘Permanent Core Collection’ in the Oscar Academy Library. In the following years, Dam 999 was selected for over 130 international film festivals.

The Second Song Of The Movie – Mmmmm Was Sung By Famous Folk Singer Nanjiamma
The second song of the movie “Mmmmm,” produced by Dr. Sohan Roy and directed by Vijesh Mani under the Aries group’s banner, has now been recorded. The song titled “Paathyile Nerunki Mollu” is sung by Nanjiamma, an elderly folk singer, whose debut song in the movie Ayyappanum Koshiyum warmed the hearts of a broad audience. The recording took place at Sreeragam studio on August 30th. Director Vijeesh Mani, I.M Vijayan, Jayaraj Warrier, and Palaniswami were also present during this recording session. I.M Vijayan plays the lead role in the movie, where numerous famous foreign actors have been roped into playing various roles.
Famous American singer, lyricist, and music director Edon Molla has also sung one song in the movie. Edon Molla has worked with many reputed artists in the American music industry, including the Grammy Award winners. His music has been recognized by New York’s Brooklyn Marathon, independent movies of Europe and America, and various radio stations. Edon’s first album, “Alone,” had attained lakhs of streams through digital media platforms in four months. ‘Mmmmm’ will be his debut project in the Indian music industry. Well, known music director, Jubair Muhammad is handling the movie’s music section.
“Mmmmm…” is a movie which stresses on various environmental concepts. Producers reported that Edon decided to be a part of the film after listening to the theme and message the cinema had to offer. Initially, the first few schedules were planned to be shot at international locations. Unfortunately, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, all decided scenes will now be shot in India.
Director has announced that artists from Hollywood will be a part of this movie, as it will be released on an international scale. He also mentioned his excitement working alongside Sohan Roy, who gifted the world with a foreign film like DAM 999. Ajith PJ, The Managing Director of Aries Group of Companies, and Founder Chair of Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers – UAE Section has been honoured with the Fellow Status by Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), USA. The honour is even greater as he is also the youngest member from the GCC region to honoured with this status.
An Engineering graduate in Naval Architecture & Ship Building with MBA in Technology Management, Ajith has 20+ years of professional experience in the field of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. Currently, he is enrolled as Research Scholar pursuing PhD in Port & Shipping. Directed by Dr. Sohan Roy and released in 2011, DAM 999 has novelties numerous enough to fill a dam. Apart from gaining a reputed position among the Oscar-shortlisted movies, the movie’s script, also written by Sohan Roy, was placed in the Oscar Academy Library’s (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) permanent core collection.

In 1975, 2,50,000 people were mass murdered by Banqiao Dam in China. Wikipedia refers to it as the tallest among the 6 oldest dams across the globe and that it is 7 times taller than Banqiao Dam. These facts vividly explain the intensity of horror that was collecting in the Mullaperiyar dam along with water.
Just like emotions and consciousness make a man think, it urged Sohan Roy to sit and ponder. Afterward, he filmed the documentary named “Dams: The Lethal Water Bombs” and shared his concerns with society. The short film secured three awards from Los Angeles Movie Festival and Movie awards the very next year itself and continued to acquire about 23 international awards in the coming years.
When a twenty-one-minute movie was subject to acknowledgment, he realized the seamless opportunities a commercial film made on the same concept could receive. It urged him to make a movie on a larger canvas. In contrast to “Titanic” movie’s concept of coincidental disaster, a film which pictures human-made disaster can fulfil the actual goal of the art of movie-making- bringing awareness. By the time “DAM 999” was ready for release, it had already received so many accolades. The movie has cast 16 national award winners, and became the first Indian movie to implement 2D to 3D “conversion technology.” The film was also simultaneously released in 5 world languages. It was shot aboard the largest ship in the world’s history, making it the first Indian film that had incorporated the water graphics technology. DAM999 was the first Indian movie produced in the Hollywood format. Vishakham Thirunal Ramavarma, the ruler of the erstwhile Travancore princely state, had signed an agreement with the British for 999 years, known as “Periyar Paattakkarar” ( Periyar Lease Agreement). The British people were authorized to construct the Mullaperiyar Dam and to distribute the water of Periyar to Tamil Nadu via the Vaigai river for 999 years. This agreement came into force on 1886 October 29. The Achyuthamenon Government had renewed the agreement post-independence.
Nobody has any grievances in supplying water to Tamil Nadu. But isn’t it atrocious to argue that Kerala has no right to rebuild the Dam for 999 years? Will a Dam which starts to give away after about a hundred years stay secure for 999 years?

Chennai: The grand event of Indywood Fashion Premiere League Season 3 concluded successfully at Taj Connemara in Chennai on Feb 14 th 2020. The event was organised along with the official launch of Indywood Billionaires Club – Chennai chapter where top enterprising business icons from the state of Tamil Nadu were honored. Recognizing the relevance of age old tradition of weaving and the major role it has played in shaping the fashion world since ages, IFPL season 3 was themed “A walk for a Cause” which unveiled a greater cause of promoting the Indian weaver’s community.
IFPL season 3 showcased handpicked designs by Mrs. Abhini Sohan, Executive Director – IFPL, who is known for her impeccable design sense. Travelling around the world and imbibing fashion from varied cultures and nations, her choice of clothes showcased in the event was subject to great appreciation. As a designer, Abhini Sohan’s passion in designing started budding at a very tender age. Her inspiration was her mother and cousin who is a renowned fashion designer in South India. Her initially designed pieces mostly included an exquisite collection of sarees. Her keenness in travelling with hardcore passion for fashion made her travel the world, watch, live and feel varied cultures. Handpicking of IFPL designer wears were also done through a similar process of travelling each place all by herself and choosing one from a wide range of collections. Particular attention was given to choosing designs closely knitted to the cultural aesthetics of that particular place. Her immaculate design sense coupled with the elegance of models brought the appearance of the costumes to a whole new level. While Abhini personally sees to the selection of dresses, her team of professionals is responsible to conduct the show in a top-notch manner. “According to me, fashion is something that must blend in and align with an individual’s body and shouldn’t look like an extra fitting. And, while wearing an outfit, it should have the power to enhance the appearance of the person and vice-versa”, she quoted.
Travelling to different villages and experiencing the struggle weaver communities are going through, Abhini decided to choose the theme to uphold the relevance of weaving in Indian culture. She believes that, if this generation of weavers aren’t taken care of, the next generation will be reluctant to step into that line of skill and it will eventually lead to the end of the weaving community.
The show was choreographed by ace fashion choreographer Mr. Dalu Krishandas, who has brought prominent changes to the South Indian fashion industry. Miss Super Globe World 2019, Akshara Reddy and Indian model and actress Vidya Pradeep, walked the ramp as celebrity Show stoppers. This year, IFPL will be organised at 5 different locations including Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad focusing on the different film hubs of Indian film industry. IFPL aims to choose film industry as a medium to propagate the word of Indian fashion industry around the world. Watching Indywood, a media and film based company founded by Abhini’s husband, Mr. Sohan Roy, she realized movies’ potential to enhance a wide range of fields like music, fashion, technology etc., and thus the initial concept of IFPL struck Abhini.

Though, BOTEL was featured in many television advertisements and movies, it gained international recognition after it appeared in the Hollywood movie, DAM999. Accepting the hospitality of President of Indywood Billionaires Club and President of NRIPA, Shri. Sohan Roy, many international celebrities and Indian billionaires have reportedly enjoyed travelling in BOTEL to admire the picturesque beauty of Alappuzha’s backwater. The Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid MP has retained the top spot on the GG2 Power List, the definitive ranking of the UK’s most powerful Asians. The annual publication, which is revealed on the night of the GG2 Leadership Awards, has been published for the 9th year and features the UK’s 101 most recognised and influential Asians from a wide range of sectors.
On topping the annual GG2 Power List, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid, said: “I am honoured to be recognised on the GG2 Power List once more and I am proud to live in a Britain where anyone can become Chancellor, whatever their background. Each person on this year’s Power List has their own story to tell, but the example they set to young Asian women and men is helping to create a better and brighter future for Britain. I commend and congratulate them all.”
Javid retains the top position he achieved last year after being named Britain’s first Asian Chancellor in July 2019. Together with Home Secretary Priti Patel, who features at number 2 on this year’s list, the pair represent the first time that two out of the top four cabinet positions have been occupied by politicians of Black or Asian heritage.

The award-winning British actor has wowed audiences and critics alike with his recent performance in Sound of Metal, whilst remaining a strong voice for on screen representation and diversity in the arts. The GG2 Leadership Awards showcase ethnic achievement, talent and leadership in the UK. This year’s winners once more proved to be torchbearers for ethnic communities and leadership in their respective fields.
The prestigious GG2 Hammer Award, an accolade presented to a high achieving individual who has shattered the proverbial glass ceiling, was given to Nitin Paranjpe, global Chief Operating Officer of Unilever. Indywood Distribution Network Bags Rights To Distribute Prassthanam – Releasing Soon In GCC
Indywood Distribution Network now owns rights of distribution of the official Hindi remake of the 2010 Telugu film ‘Prassthanam’ and would be released in GCC soon. The much-awaited trailer of Sanjay Dutt’s Prassthanam was released on 29th August, 2019 and the film promises a lot of action and twists. The film, which is the official Hindi remake of the 2010 Telugu film of the same name, also features Manisha Koirala, Chunky Panday, Jackie Shroff, Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur.
The original Telugu film-Prassthanam featured Sharwanand, Sai Kumar, Sundeep Kishan and Ruby Parihar in pivotal roles. It was directed by Deva Katta, who has also helmed the Hindi version. Produced by Maanayata Dutt (wife of Sanjay Dutt), the remake of Prassthanam will open in theatres on September 20.
The trailer which was released, shows a child asking Sanjay Dutt’s character about the morality behind lord Rama killing Ravana and shows Sanjay Dutt fighting goons. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Baldev Pratap Singh, the head of a political family, and his two sons (played by Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey) fight against each other to carry forward his legacy. Jackie Shroff proves his loyalty to Sanjay Dutt by supporting him throughout the political war.
Chunky Panday also plays a prominent role in the movie and shows a head-to-head political battle along with Sanjay Dutt with a glimpses of Manisha Koirala, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey and Amyra Dastur. The plot of Prassthanam touched upon the story of Ramayana and Mahabharata to depict the choice of war between right and wrong even in this era.

Indywood Billionaires Club Demands probe on V G Siddardh’s Death
Sohan Roy, Founder of Indywood Billionaire Club expressed his deep condolences as India’s biggest coffee chain, Cafe Coffee Day, founder VG Siddhartha was declared dead today. His body was found today morning after being reported missing mysteriously since Monday night. The body was recovered by a group of fishermen from the Netravati river, near Hoige Bazaar beach in Mangaluru after 36 hours. The spot from where the body was recovered, was reportedly some distance away from the bridge he was seen on last.
Sohan Roy, who is a successful business man also relates to the issue Siddhartha might have faced and struggles he might have gone through to built a coffee chain like CCD and feels deeply for the family who might be in unbearable sorrow now.
Siddhartha, also the son-in-law of former Karnataka chief minister and BJP leader SM Krishna, was last seen near the bridge in the Kotepura area in Dakshina Kannada district on Monday night, police said.
Reacting to the demise of Siddhartha, businessman Mr. Sohan Roy empathized with Siddhartha’s letter saying that Indian “government and other businessmen can drive anyone to despair for personal gains. If government does not take any corrective measures, such incidents may repeat again in future.”

Friday 21st June, London – The fourth Eastern Eye Arts, Culture & Theatre Awards (ACTAs) winners have been revealed at tonight’s glittering gala awards night at the May Fair Hotel, London. The evening was hosted by award-winning broadcaster Nihal Arthanayake.
The ACTAs celebrate diverse talent in the arts and entertainment, with categories spanning a wide range of disciplines and showcasing a world of talent. The list of winners for 2019 were another eclectic mix of popular household names and critically acclaimed emerging talents who excel in their respective fields.
Leading the charge of 2019’s winners, the Theatre categories saw some notable triumphs for EastEnders favourite Nitin Ganatra, crowned Best Actor for theatre production ‘End of the Pier’ and Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati who picked up Best Actress for her role in ‘Richard II’. Acclaimed theatre director Indhu Rubasingham won Best Director for her adaptation of ‘White Teeth’, the best-selling novel by Zadie Smith, whilst ‘Tartuffe’ by the Royal Shakespeare Company picked up the Best Production.
The hotly contested categories for Comedy and Contemporary Music were won by popular comedian Paul Chowdhry and chart-topping producer Naughty Boy respectively whilst the TV and Film acting categories were awarded to Ash Tandon (‘Bodyguard’) and Priyanga Burford (‘Press’).
Star of hit BBC TV show ‘Dr Who’, Mandip Gill won the People’s Choice Award, as voted for by the public, with the Emerging Artist Award going to Antonio Aakeel, star of independent British comedy film ‘Eaten by Lions’.

Kochi to host All Lights India International Film Festival; entries invited
Ernakulam: All Lights India International Film Festival (ALIIFF) invites entries for ‘Celebrate Malayalam Cinema’. Entries for Feature Films and Short Films can be submitted for the Film Festival till 31st August, 2019.
The criteria for the film’s which had to be submitted is that the duration of Short Film should be between 5 minutes to 30 minutes and for Feature Film should be more than 60 minutes. The Films should be made between January 2018 to August 2019.
Film entry is free.
