Queensland Ministerial And Tourism Delegation Visits India To Strengthen Tourism Partnerships
~ Representatives of the Australian state of Queensland are in India this week to strengthen trade, education and tourism ties ~
~ The delegation is led by Queensland Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe and includes tourism representatives ~
~ This is the first Queensland ministerial visit since the launch Queensland-India Trade and Investment Strategy 2023-2027 ~
India, 07th December 2023: A high-level tourism, trade and education delegation from Queensland is in India this week to strengthen economic and social relationships between the two regions. Building new tourism and international education opportunities is an important component of the trade mission, led by the Queensland Government’s Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport Stirling Hinchliffe.
Mr Hinchliffe is joined by representatives from Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ), Tourism Australia and Queensland’s airports and Regional Tourism Organisations. During the first half of 2023, more than 64,000 travellers from India visited Queensland to enjoy the State’s great lifestyle and world-class tourism experiences and destinations.
Currently there are 17,700 students from India enrolled with Queensland education and training providers. The delegation led by Minister Hinchliffe is the first official Queensland ministerial visit to India since the signing of the joint Queensland-India Trade and Investment Strategy 2023-2027.
The strategy is designed to promote long-term collaboration in education, innovation and economic growth, starting on Queensland’s runway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) has increased its presence and resources in India with Minister Hinchliffe officially opening TIQ’s new Mumbai office this week in partnership with the Australian Consulate-General in Mumbai.
Speaking about his visit, Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said: “Queensland is home to a significant Indian community with more than 90,000 residents of Indian heritage and almost 18,000 students studying onshore with Queensland education providers. The Queensland-India Trade and Investment Strategy recognises the many mutually beneficial opportunities for building stronger links between the two regions, particularly on Queensland’s runway to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. With a great lifestyle, world-class tourism destinations, unique, awe-inspiring natural attractions and Indigenous cultures, Queensland is the favourite domestic holiday destination of Australians. An important focus of this delegation is exploring new opportunities to reunite family and friends and share more of Queensland’s award-winning tourism experiences with Indian visitors.”
Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said, “Tourism and Events Queensland is working closely with our airports and regional tourism organisations to create bespoke visitor opportunities for travellers from India. From visiting relatives and enjoying our amazing culture to exploring the thriving Great Barrier Reef and the world’s oldest rainforests, for Indian travellers Queensland has so much to offer. For over a decade Bollywood ace dancer choreographer Sandip Soparrkar has been winning various awards for his contribution in the field of dance and social work. His initiative ‘Dance for a Cause’ has been using dance as a medium to raise awareness and for the betterment of the society and its varied issues. But this year is very special for dancer choreographer Sandip Soparrkar because his worldwide initiative “Dance for a Cause” is getting international appreciation.

Inaugurated by Consul General Sushil Kumar, the fashion festival, curated by Bollywood actor Vishwajeet Pradhan and his wife Sonalika Pradhan aims to boost cross- cultural participation within the global fashion community. IFWA’s program this year includes a high fashion runway show featuring international designers like Vietnamese prodigy Ivan Tran, Indian Designer Archana Kochhar, India’s first transgender designer Saisha Shinde along with local Australian, South Asian and African origin designers. The multicultural extravaganza is choreographed by Indian fashion veteran Shakir Shaikh.
With Supermodel Hua Trang as show stopper, Ivan Tran set the runway alight with his blazing , out of this world designs. Couterier Archana Kochhar debuted at IFWA with social media influencer Nagma Mirajkar turning out for her in a fiery red dress. Drawing a huge round of applause, Saisha Shinde launched her multi-hued retail collection, in a Grand Finale to the magical evening.

August,2022: Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) with Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) delegates & Thai Trade Centre, Mumbai, conducted the “Let’s Go To Bangkok Roadshow” for the 67th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) to be held from 7-11 September 2022 in Bangkok. The event was followed with an exclusive fashion show with models displaying an array of Thailand’s Gem & Jewelry to the visitors, “
India’s Lab Grown Diamond & Jewellery Promotion Council (LGDPC) & DITP also came to an understanding on how both the countries can leverage each other special resources exponentially. LGDJC proposed to export a substantial number of Lab Grown Diamonds Gold, Silver & Rubies to Thailand & in return Thailand will export their ruby, silver & white gold worth the same amount to India. This will further boost the economy & solidify the bilateral trade between both countries
India has been a Key market for Thailand’s G & JS exports, especially the silver jewellery. It has been exponentially growing at the rate of +158.21% from the last year. Both the countries shares unique civilization links going back several millennia. In the recent years both these neighbours have been sharing an excellent multilateral & business relationship in various sectors`
DITP’s recent report states that Thailand’s gems and jewellery exports (excluding gold) have risen to 3,884.21 million USD between January to June 2022, a 40.96% increase from the previous year. Among the main markets like the US, Hong Kong and Germany, the Indian market has generated the highest export value, a total of 149.21% increase from products like diamonds, gemstones, pearls, jewellery, synthetic stones, precious metals & other products clad with precious metals.
India has been the top visiting country for the BGJF fair since many years, both in terms of footfalls & trade volumes. Even for this 67th edition Indian visitors registration has been on number 1 slot with many more registrations pouring in. BGJF is a very important trade platform especially for Indian exhibitors. Primarily because being neighbors, both the countries share almost similar culture & heritage not only in terms of existence & food habits, but also in terms of fashion and lifestyle. For an Indian buyer or importer this exhibition gives a nearby & readymade platform to access the latest range of designs of gems and jewellery uniquely created by Thailand
BGJF is the biggest Gem and Jewellery Fair not only in Asia, but throughout the globe. DITP has been continuously playing an essential role in promoting Thailand’s gems and jewellery industry globally. BGJF 2022 ,which will be held at Impact Challenger Hall, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok will display more than 800 exhibitors & 1,800 booths. More than 10,000 visitors & 1,200 million bahts of revenue is expected from this edition. मुंबई के अंधेरी वेस्ट स्थित व्यंजन बैंक्वेट हॉल में इंग्लिश फिल्म ग्रीन कार्ड का शुभ मुहूर्त किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम को फैंटाबुलस जोन द्वारा आयोजित और मैनेज किया गया। मुहूर्त में कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन अभिनेता एवं निर्देशक संदीप मालानी, विशिष्ट अतिथि कृति राज सिंह, निर्देशक सौरभ भारद्वाज एवं इस फिल्म के क्रिएटिव हेड एवं अभिनेता ऋषभ भारद्वाज ,अभिनेत्री अंजली बनर्जी ने संयुक्त रूप से दीप प्रज्वलित करके किया।
इस मौके पर संदीप ने कहा कि सौरभ भारद्वाज की मेहनत हमेशा ही कुछ नया करती है। विदित हो कि संदीप कई हॉलीवुड बॉलीवुड, तमिल फिल्म में निर्देशन और अभिनय कर चुके हैं। 2021 में रीलिज बॉलीवुड फिल्म नेलपॉलिश से चर्चा में आए अभिनेता ऋषभ भारद्वाज ने अपनी शुभकामनाएं देते हुए कहा कि रांची शहर से मुंबई तक इस मुकाम तक पहुंचना सौरभ की सच्ची मेहनत की पहचान है। निर्देशक सौरभ ने प्रेस वार्ता में कहा कि यह मेरा सौभाग्य है कि मुझे एक इंग्लिश फिल्म करने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ है। हमारी फिल्म की सह निर्मात्री एवं लेखिका क्रिस्टीन पर्सौड नवोदित लेखिका के रूप में उभर रही है।
इस फिल्म का सपना 2009 से ही देखा जा रहा था, पर आज हकीकत का रूप ले रहा है। निर्मात्री के बारे में सौरभ भारद्वाज ने बताया कि उन्हें भारत से बहुत लगाव है और बॉलीवुड इंडस्ट्री में काम करना चाहती हैं। निर्मात्री अमेरिका में रहते हुए भी अपने देश कि मिट्टी से जुड़ी हुई हैं वो मां दुर्गा की बहुत बड़ी भक्त हैं वो उनकी फैमिली इंडिया के लिए कुछ करना चाहती है।
क्रिसटीन पर्सौड वीडियो कांफ्रेंस के माध्यम से कार्यक्रम में मौजूद रहीं। फिल्म के कलाकारों के बारे में पूछने पर सौरभ ने बताया कि बॉलीवुड से प्रियंका चोपड़ा, अर्जून रामपाल, ऋषभ भारद्वाज, संदीप मलानी को अप्रोच किया गया है। प्रियंका चोपड़ा, अर्जुन रामपाल के डेट्स मिलते ही शुटिंग की तैयारियां शुरू हो जाएगी।

Immigration Officer Major Matar Aids Distraught Indian Family in the UAE
Not all heroes wear capes- in fact, they can even be a law enforcement official. This gentleman in question is immigration officer, Major Mohammed Ahmed Matar, who made it his mission to help a distraught Indian Expat’s family in the UAE even after his duty hours.
The Indian family had faced an emergency when the expat, his wife and child were travelling to India to visit the wife’s grandmother, who was in critical condition.
“We were rushing to the airport,” the expat stated. “All was going smooth during our check-in at Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) airport. But when we proceeded to the Immigration counter, we never expected the scenario that came in front of us.” The immigration officer at the desk explained the expat that his child’s visa had already expired, however, the expat believed that it was valid until the next year. This mishap resulted in the immigration team advising the distressed family to visit the Dubai office to sort the issue, and that they could not board the flight until the issue was resolved. However, the family did not believe that they could travel to Dubai and get back in time to RAK to board their flight.
As a last resort, the family travelled to Dubai to sort the issue. “When we reached the Al Tawar Office, the receptionist asked us to visit the main branch instead to solve the issue. Being absolutely exhausted from the day’s events, I requested her to help us in some way.” The family were then directed to a gentleman who was finishing his duties.
It was then that the patriarch explained his issue to Major Ahmed Matar, who actively listened to the man’s woes. “He went back to his office and came back out after a few hours, telling me that it would be solved, and that I could fly back home in the next 24 hours”, the expat stated. The family was relieved, but money was also an issue, given that the family of 3 they were not able to get a refund for their last flight.
“Now the issue was the money to buy tickets for all three of us to travel. As I was leaving the office, Major Matar pulled out his wallet and gave me enough cash to travel back home,” the expat said. “He is a real hero whom we cannot forget. He went beyond his duty hours to help us and discuss the issue personally.”
This scenario displays yet another heroic deed by the UAE’s exemplary government officials, who are the unsung heroes of the nation. The UAE continues to help expats all over the country, with an approach that is characterised by kindness, respect, and tolerance.

The fact that this is not recognized is still worth thousands of innocent lives, and now we are talking about a planetary threat.”

“I demand that Russian President Putin be recognized as mentally ill and incompetent. Russian President Putin has lost touch with reality, openly threatening the world to use nuclear weapons and demonstrating his readiness to carry out this threat. Putin encroaches on my fundamental right – the right to life. Based on the documented threats of the patient Putin and the inhuman war unleashed on his orders in Ukraine, I demand from the UN an official statement of the fact of the insanity of citizen Putin. I demand not to carry out the orders of Putin as incompetent. For those who will transfer Putin to doctors, I demand a guarantee of freedom, as the saviors of the world. I demand an amnesty for all those who, by deceit or coercion, served the inhuman system created by the mentally ill Putin. I demand an immediate stop to all military operations of the Russian army in Ukraine and in the world. I demand an immediate withdrawal of troops from all occupied territories in Ukraine. I demand democratic elections in the Russian Federation under international control, the complete demilitarization of the Russian Federation, and the Marshall Plan for the integration of the Russian Federation into the post-war global economy,” explained Andrei Lubalin (alias Avinash Puri).

“It was in December 1986 I submitted the project to UP Government. December 1987 the film city got its clearance from the state capital Lucknow and !988 allotments were made. “Broken Wings is the first true representation of the Northeast. To an average Indian, Nepali means momos, security guards and a regiment. In an artistic sense, I am asking for inclusion of people from the Northeast.”
It has not been an easy journey for Khymsar. Born in exile, the struggle to find his true self and the want to go back home seems an eternal quest. “Tibet needs to be free,” he says simply. The rebel in Khymsar has always tried to rebuild his broken wings through the medium of cinema. US State Senator, politician, lawyer and Vice-Presidential running mate Kamala Devi Harris has scripted history by being the first Indian-American or African-American woman to be appointed as the Vice-Presidential running mate.
It is a known fact that Kamala Harris has a huge support base in the Indian-American community. Indian-born Hollywood producer, philanthropist and serial entrepreneur Tel K Ganesan is excited at the power push for the senator as it “sends a message of hope to young girls of colour, and any immigrant, for that matter.”
Ganesan, who met Harris at Detroit, Michigan during her political run for the primary race of the Democratic presidential ticket, avers that Harris is “high energy, positive, upbeat and a bubbly person.” Ganesan had an instant connect with her. “We shared wonderful, happy moments. Spotlight Productions celebrated their ninth year at Symphony Space Theatre located at New York City. Varsha Naik’s Navrang Dance Academy, NJ shined at the Symphony State theatre. The only act that featured an Indian Dance form at the show – “Dancing in the Spotlight”. Varsha Naik, who is the choreographer, along with her talented team of 21 dancers proudly showcased Indian culture and art through their dance at the prestigious Symphony Space Theatre on Broadway.
Spotlight Productions Celebrates in Style This Year at Symphony Space on Broadway in honor of NYFW Spotlight decided to incorporate exotic styles from around the world. It is one of the only theatrical shows in New York that welcomes a variety of over 250 performers both young and Elite, from all backgrounds and in all style including: Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Ballet and most recently Indian Dance. Spotlight believes in creating a platform for everyone to shine. The company was founded almost a decade ago by Masha Lakhter who is the CEO. She not only produces the show each year but, is a performer as well.
For the first time ever, Varsha Naik joined Spotlight production organization with Navrang Dance Academy. It was pure magic witnessing this Indian Group. They brought such a vibrant and colorful presence to our show. The stage was illuminated by their beautiful spirits, costumes and movement. The love of dance was quite visible and our audience of 800 spectators was left with memorable impressions of style and grace.
“It’s the dream for any dancer to perform on this prestigious stage and I find myself extremely lucky to have gotten the chance. I would like to thank Spotlight Production for organizing “Dancing in the Spotlight”. Every piece of dance was spectacular, colorful and fascinating on this stage,” says Varsha.

New Jersey’s New Year’s Celebration in “Fitness style with Varsha Naik
Varsha Naik from New Jersey organized a unique fitness event called “Pallo Latke: Welcoming the New Year.” This event featured different types of dance and fitness lovers. Fitness is crucial to day to day life, however we are still behind to understand the concept of fitness. “A New Year’s party can be a fitness orientated event. The basic idea of welcoming in the New Year is partying, dance, and entertainment. Naik thought to have a fitness dance party in which she incorporated the ideas of a party in a fitness class.” said Naik. In this fitness party, Naik asked all the attendees to bring a scarf, or a “Pallo” which was integrated throughout the entire event. Fitness parties are not you everyday kind of party. They are equally as fun compared to a traditional party.
Pallo latke: Welcoming the New Year is a sixty-minute workout circuit party, in which laughter and entertainment was main goal. The party began with “Laughter Yoga” instructed by Poonam Gupta. Gupta was invited by Naik and she expressed that one does not need a reason to laugh, one can laugh and enjoy themselves at any time. Next the event continued to a quick Zumba class in which Zin Varsha Naik and Zin Sumathy Iyer led the class in unique twist. They used Zumba moves to Bollywood songs which attracted many people. The event ended with a dance lesson on the new Bollywood song, “Pallo Latke” in which the attendees used their “Pallo’s.” They were also performed on Ghoomar Song from the film of Padmavati. Light healthy dinner were served at the end.
The Fitness Party was a great time! No one was bored throughout the event because of the way it was designed. The event ensured that there was always something new happening every few minutes which kept the attendees’ attention locked in the event. The trainers made sure that in each dance we did, laughter and exercise was used. This combination makes working out, something that is dreadful to some, not seem like a work out, rather something that is more enjoyable.
“Fitness is a lifestyle,” Naik said, “It’s even more important that as you get older to stay active. As people become fitness enthusiasts, it is a great way to share that with people in their lives. It is all about living a healthy lifestyle.” Laughter and dance is a great combination that promotes a healthy life style while having fun.

Varsha Naik of Navrang Dance Academy, New Jersey launched first ever ‘USA Dance Day’. USA Dance Day is a unique dance platform where dances from all over the world come together on one single platform promoting unity, Harmony and brotherhood between people. To further add more value to ‘USA Dance Day’ Varsha joint hands with Bollywood celebrity choreographer Sandip Soparrkar’s National Award winning initiative ‘Dance for a Cause’, the event took place at the prestigious J.P Stevens High School in Edison, New Jersey
The theme of the show was ‘Stop Acid Attack on Women’. Acid attack not only happens in India but in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Cambodia, Italy and UK as well as in the United States and other parts of the world. The event started with Beautiful Anthem of both the countries USA and India followed by the Ganesh Vandana ( A prayer said before starting anything new and positive) USA Dance Day had around 15 performances where varied dance forms like -Ballet, Bollywood, Garbha, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam, Chinese, Hip-hop, contemporary, Pakistani, Jazz and many more were showcased. It was wonderful to witness various cultures from different parts of the world coming together for a cause.
The Chief Guest of the ‘USA Dance Day – Dance for a Cause’ was – Ms. Monica Mahendra Singh who is an acid attack survivor herself. She is a strong woman and successful fashionista and an UN Women Global Youth Champion, speaking out against gender-based violence and using fashion to empower and encourage survivors to pursue their dreams. Naik also thanked the community at the press conference for the support and encouragement for the event. “The event is gaining a lot of momentum on social media already and we have participation entries from some well-known dance institutes and individuals too. Keeping in mind all the wonderful and passionate participants who have already registered we are sure the audience and the community are going to enjoy and have a great time,” Naik said.
Special Guests like padmashree H.R.Shah(CEO TV Asia), Antonio N. Sabas – American Politician & Philanthropist, Megumi N.
